Avalanche Construction & Woodworks is a boutique Whistler renovation and construction management company specializing in residential renovations, home additions, and custom millwork. Our work is built on disciplined craftsmanship, structured oversight, and a commitment to doing things properly. We maintain in-house Red Seal carpenters and collaborate with a trusted network of trades, designers, engineers, and consultants to deliver carefully coordinated projects throughout the Sea to Sky.

Matt Hyatt – Founder & Project Manager
Matt Hyatt has built his career within the high-end woodworking and construction industry. He began his apprenticeship in Joinery at BCIT, earning his Joinery Red Seal in 2010 while working under experienced journeymen at a respected millwork shop in Richmond. His early years were rooted in precision millwork — a foundation that continues to inform ACW’s approach to detail and tolerances.
He later transitioned into custom home construction and renovations with an award-winning Vancouver firm, expanding his expertise into full-scale project supervision and construction management. In 2019, Matt earned his Carpentry Red Seal, further strengthening his technical depth across both structural and finish disciplines.
Avalanche Construction & Woodworks was founded in 2012 as Avalanche Custom Woodworks. What began as focused millwork projects has evolved into a principal-led renovation and construction management firm serving Whistler and the surrounding region. In 2024, the company formally updated its name to reflect its expanded scope and structure.
Matt is known for steady communication, transparent project management, and the ability to see both the broader vision and the smallest detail within a build. His approach balances craftsmanship with organization — ensuring projects are thoughtfully executed from concept through completion.

Experience & Recognition
Over the years, ACW has contributed to the construction and renovation of notable residences in both Vancouver and Whistler. The company received the HomeStars Best of 2017 award for Carpentry in Vancouver and has maintained strong client reviews across multiple platforms, including a 5-star Google rating.

Whistler Roots
Matt relocated to Whistler in 2018, bringing with him years of experience in high-end custom homes and millwork. Construction and mountain life have always gone hand in hand — Whistler was never a question of if, but when.
