We are a Whistler-based boutique renovation and construction management firm specializing in full home renovations, home additions, and multi-room renovation projects including kitchens and bathrooms. Our projects are principal-led and carefully coordinated and supported by in-house Red Seal carpenters and a trusted network of trades, designers, and engineers. We work primarily through referrals and take on a select number of projects each year to ensure the highest level of oversight and service.
At Avalanche Construction & Woodworks, design is a collaborative process. We work closely with a trusted network of interior designers and architects throughout the Sea to Sky, and are equally comfortable working alongside a designer the client has already chosen. Whatever the source of the design, our role is to make sure it translates seamlessly into the build.
Matt Hyatt offers design consultations as part of the project management engagement, providing constructability feedback, early budgeting insight, and practical guidance on materials, layout, and sequencing. For clients earlier in the process, we can help facilitate connections with the right design professionals for their project.
We also work with local engineering firms to confirm structural feasibility and compliance with BC building code requirements, and coordinate closely with the RMOW Building and Planning Departments on permitting.
Project Manager Matt Hyatt, with two decades of construction experience, leads every ACW project from initial planning through final completion. Supported by PMP-certified project management professionals, our team brings structured oversight, disciplined budgeting, and consistent communication to every renovation we take on.

Every two weeks during construction, clients receive a structured project update package that includes:
Progress Report
A written summary of work completed on site, upcoming tasks, and any decisions or items requiring client input, accompanied by progress photos
Updated Cost Breakdown
A live budget document showing original estimate, any changes to date, and current projected total so you always know exactly where the project stands financially
Progress Invoice
A transparent accounting of ACW labour, contractor costs, and materials accumulated during the period
When scope changes, unforeseen site conditions, or estimate updates arise — and on any renovation they do — they are documented clearly with plain-language explanations before being reflected in the budget. Nothing moves quietly.
